About Julie A native of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Julie was an All-State pitcher for Simley High School. She was also an All-Conference player in tennis and basketball. She was recently inducted into the Simley High School Athletic Hall of Fame. After a successful high school career, she went on to play softball for Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Her freshman year “Westy” was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Her sophomore year she led her team to its first-ever East Coast Athletic Conference title. As a junior, she was named to the Northeast Regional All-American team. As a senior, she led Cornell to its first-ever Ivy League title. That year she was also named Ivy League Pitcher of the Year, Cornell University’s Female Athlete of the Year, and was listed as 16th on Cornell’s list of One Hundred Greatest Athletes of the Century. She set many records during her career at Cornell including wins (78), ERA (1.40), strikeouts (480), shutouts (21), complete games (75) and innings pitched (633). She also threw the first-ever no-hitter for Cornell. The accomplishment of which she is most proud is being a part of the team that earned Cornell its first-ever Ivy League championship. In October of this year, she was inducted into the Cornell Athletic Hall of Fame. Through her clinic experience, she learned how to effectively teach an eight-step pitching technique. She believes that breaking down the full motion and teaching it in small steps is the most effective way to master the basic mechanics. Once the pitcher masters the fundamentals, the focus then turns to accuracy, speed, and then off-speed and breaking pitches. Julie is available for group clinics as well as individual instruction. A practicing attorney, Julie specializes in the areas of estate planning and business law (healylawllc.com). She and her husband and son live in Richfield, MN.
